Not a “New Year’s Resolution” Kind of Guy

To be honest, I’m not a “New Year’s resolution” kind of guy.  I’ve tried them in the past…I have even written them down and thought about them for a few days.  Generally they are easily forgotten because just as the New Year begins to progress, other cares and concerns rise to the top! They are left in the rear view window!  Is that true for you as well?

One of the many aspects of our Christian faith that I deeply appreciate is the opportunity for each day to begin anew. Because of Jesus, His life, death and triumphant resurrection, we have newness of life each day.  We live in grace each day.  We have forgiveness each day.  We live in the awareness that God’s love  surrounds us each day…it never starts and stops…it continues 24  hours a day, 7 days a week for 52 weeks of 2018.  Each day is a new day to pray, “Lord, who can I show and share the love of Jesus with…today?”  Or, “What opportunities are You going to bring right to me that I might disciple someone through my words or actions?”

The Apostle Paul tells the Corinthians in his 2nd letter, “If anyone be in Christ he is a new creation, the old has passed away, behold the new has come.”  That’s God’s promise to us…each day we are new, we are His forgiven, empowered children, that are called to serve His people on each new day that He gives us!

In 2018,  now and always…To God be the glory!

Have a blessed, joy filled, adventurous, disciple making New Year!
