If you have lived in your home for many years, you could probably mentally go through each room in the house and tell me what is in there. You know its color because you painted it; you know what’s in the closets because you have filled them up; you know the floors because you have vacuumed them or scrubbed them, you know the light fixture because you bought a new one and replaced the old; you know the light switches and the wattage of the light bulb because you have replaced it dozens of times. You know what’s inside that room because you have placed everything in that room and have gone in and out of it hundreds, maybe thousands of times.
Before you read further, I would invite you to open your Bible to Psalm 139 and read it.
OK, that took maybe 3 minutes and yet that Psalm speaks of the intimacy and the depth to which our God knows us. He knows us so well because He has created each of us, just as you decorated that room in your house, so God has created us and knows us better than we know ourselves. We cannot hide from Him we cannot flee from Him, He knows each of our days, even before they have been lived and He knows every day that we have lived and covers them with love and grace.
This God that knows us so well, who knows everything about us and still loves us is the same God who sent His Son to be our Savior. And He did this because He knows what we needed, the perfect substitute, the perfect ransom for our sins, the perfect One who would say to each of us, “Come follow Me and I will make you fishers of men.” And in that invitation, there is the awareness that He has already planned the journey and He already knows our destination...heaven.
Blessings to you!
