Confident Anticipation

One of the many blessings that we enjoy in our country is the opportunity to anticipate. We can, because of God’s gracious and loving grace towards us, look forward to so many things. We can anticipate clean water coming from our kitchen faucet, food in our pantry, a washing machine that cleans our clothes and a car that will start in the morning that will take us to work.

We can anticipate with great joy the arrival of our family for a visit (which Melody and I are from Jen, Josh, Lucy and Benjamin from Texas), the celebration of a wedding or a graduation or even a trip “Up North.”

I love the feeling of anticipation, that I’m moving toward that event, that encounter, that experience. And yet, it’s all in God’s hands. The Lord says in Jeremiah 29: 11 “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.” We frequently pray, “Thy kingdom come, they will be done, on earth as well as in heaven.” Our lives, our plans, our anticipations…they are all in God’s loving and caring hands.

We have as believers in Jesus the sure and confident anticipation of heaven one day. We can count on that; we can trust in God’s promises that we are saved by grace through faith…that God loved the world so much that He sent His only Son…that whoever would believe in Him would have eternal life. We can with joy anticipate this; I do, and I’ve got to tell you it gives a peace that does surpass all understanding and puts a smile on my face!

Happy June Everyone! Anticipate God’s love and blessings!
