Operation Christmas Child

Operation Christmas Child (OCC) season is rapidly approaching. OCC is a program by Samaritan’s Purse that sends shoe-box sized gift boxes to children around the word. These gift boxes provide an opportunity for children to learn the gospel and grow to be faithful followers of Christ.  Every child who receives a shoe-box is invited to a 12-lesson discipleship program.  Immanuel serves as an area collection site for our community. Other churches, businesses, individuals, and families can bring their filled shoe-boxes into Immanuel for processing during the collection week of November 18.

Now you ask . . . How can we be part of this amazing outreach?  It’s as easy as packing a shoe-box with toys, school supplies, simple hygiene supplies, and a letter from you if you’d like.  A donation of $9.00 for each box will help cover the cost of shipping. Pay the donation online at Samaritan’s Purse and you can track your gift box to see where it was delivered and maybe even get a letter from the child who received your box!

We will even supply the boxes and a recommended list of ideas for packing.  Or, they can be ordered online from Samaritan’s Purse.

Don’t want to fill a box? You can donate items for the Immanuel shoe-box packing party, which will be November 21st; 6:00 to 8:00 pm. Don’t want to shop?…no problem; You can donate funds and volunteers will shop for bulk items for the packing party. Donated items can be left in the drop off box in the Welcome Center. You will find empty boxes there as well and also in the foyer near the Family Life Center.

Interested?  Just contact us for further information and your supplies.  We need to get started because collection week is fast approaching (November 18-25).

We are also in need of volunteers to receive and inventory boxes during collection week and to help run the packing party.

Please prayerfully consider participating in this year’s Operation Christmas Child.

Yours in Christ,

Earl Barker, Immanuel Outreach Ministries
