(Ask the Director)

Q: What is your curriculum designed to do?

A: Our curriculum has been taken from several sources one of which is Creative Curriculum.  It is designed to prepare children for Kindergarten.  More importantly it is designed to teach a child to love to learn and to carry this love into their next learning experience.

Q: What will my child do each day?

A: We believe in the development of the whole child. Each day a child enjoys both small and large group activities with individual attention given during these times.  Both child directed and teacher directed time takes place daily.  All children are introduced to or reinforced in the areas of colors, shapes, letters, numbers, printing,  Fun themes teach your child about the world around them .  Gym and playground become the “Can we go now?” time.  Additionally, there is calendar, music and story time daily.

Q: What if my child struggles?

A: Each child moves at their own pace.  If a child seems to be struggling, teachers and parents can meet to come up with a plan.  Teachers give suggestions for at home fun activities.  Teachers will often spend part of Center Time helping a child who is challenged in their learning.

Q: Both of us are working, how will we receive communication?

A: Weekly newsletters are sent home and will be displayed on the website.  Email messages and often text messages through the "Remind system" are sent to inform and update parents.  The online application, Remind, is used on a regular basis. Parents must sign up to receive that.  You can find it through your device's app search. Phone conversations frequently take place.  Parent Conferences are held twice a year to help parents to understand how their child is progressing and what comes next in their learning process.

Q: How can I help prepare my child get ready for preschool and kindergarten?

A: There are many ways to help your child.  Click here for a brochure on Preparing your child for Preschool & Kindergarten.

Q: Are you a licensed preschool?

A: Yes we are licensed by the State of Michigan and recognized through the Michigan District of the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod.

Reviews & Testimonials

Went to kindergarten round up and the teachers who talked to our daughter at each center, were more than impressed with how prepared she is. I can not thank everyone at Immanuel enough. If you offered preschool-12th, I would stay throughout the years. Our daughter never complained about going to school, always looked forward to your fun centers and science projects. If I could offer more than 5 stars, I would. You were always informative with papers sent home, homework sheets we can do at home with the kids to back up what is being learned that week in class and the couple minute meeting at the end of each day letting us know what was done. Highly recommend this program. - Karyn

Loved this school!!! Our first two kids went to different schools in the area and it felt like we were paying for daycare not school. All they did was play all day. Here they learn so much. The teachers are amazing and do a wonderful job of getting the kids ready for kindergarten. We only wish we would have found it sooner. - Christie

We love Immanuel Lutheran Preschool. This was the first time our daughter was in a setting without her Mom and Dad and her amazing teachers make her feel so loved and comfortable! Mrs. Cunningham and Ms. Amy in-particular are incredible at what they do! I would recommend this school and these teachers to anyone's first time preschooler! - Lindsey

Immanuel Lutheran Preschool is an experience. The staff is amazing, the families are beautiful caring people which become forever friends. Our two daughters learned such vital wonderful things about Jesus and life. Starting kindergarten, both of our girls were ahead of the group. I will forever sing the praises of Immanuel Lutheran Church and it’s staff. - Tara

Amazing school! They give every each child so much attention and care. They have helped my son gain the confidence he was missing. He learned so much while he was here and he LOVED it!! The teachers are wonderful and so caring. I would recommend this school to everyone! - Krista

THE BEST SCHOOL!!! I begged them to have K-12 so we didn’t have to leave. We had children here for 6 years and loved every minute of it. They made learning fun and all of my kids were reading and writing before kindergarten. - Alicia

From the staff, to the environment, to the curriculum, our child is cared for in a Christ centered facility. Our child enjoys school and looks forward to the daily routines of the classroom. We feel as though she will be well prepared for elementary school. Thank you for being amazing! - Leslie

This school is amazing! I know my daughters love of learning was started by her wonderful teachers - in 5th grade now and still speaks highly of both her preschool teachers ♡ the teachers, program and community are top notch. - Amanda

Immanuel Lutheran Preschool provides a high quality curriculum and a safe, caring environment for all of the children who are part of our school family. This is better magnified by the presence of loving, caring, experienced and credentialed staff members to facilitate the learning process of children.

Our staff members are composed of four certified teachers with Masters or Bachelors in Education and four certified assistant teachers with Child Development Associates. Our Director is also one of the teachers. We are supported by the staff of the church. Before they are admitted to work in our facility, we have thoroughly checked on their:

  • Personal background

  • Educational Background

  • Previous teaching experience

  • Criminal Record

  • Attitudes towards work and the working environment within the church

Each staff member is trained in CPR (yearly), first aid (bi-annually), child development (ongoing), training to reduce the risk of child sexual abuse (yearly). They also must attend a minimum of 16 hours of training annually.

Staff meetings are held bi-weekly to address curriculum planning and challenges facing individual children.
